Araksa Tea Experience

Embark on an enchanting tea journey

The name “Araksa” translates to “Preserve” in Sanskrit, underscoring our commitment to environmental conservation and local culture. Our philosophy revolves around creating a sustainable ecosystem that supports both our business and the environment we cherish.  Quality at Araksa begins with environmental stewardship and social responsibility, values we uphold in every facet of our operations.

The tea garden covers 111 acres and consists of tea plants that range from 40 to 70 years old. The site is one of the oldest tea gardens in Thailand. In 1941, the tea garden began planting approximately 50 acres of Assam tea plants. The garden was then sold and left untouched for over 15 years. Left undisturbed for many years, the tea plants have not been exposed to chemical pesticides or fertilizers. Today, they are producing some of the best organic tea in Thailand.

Testimonials

The tour of the Araksa Tea Plantation is fascinating, showing you when and how to pick tea-leaves, how the leaves are made into tea and how different types of tea are made. We were there at the weekend so, unfortunately, we could not see the factory in operation but some demonstrations of the process by hand. There is good restaurant and gift shop on site. Make sure you use insect repellant before going into the field to pick tea leaves.

Araksa Tea Garden

This was a great tour and very well organised by Absolutely Fantastic Tours Chiang Mai. First we picked tea leaves and found out some of the history of the plantation. We were then taught how they hand roast green tea. We were shown around the factory where other teas are processed. We then got to taste green tea. Both iced and hot. It was delicious. We then had one of the best meals we have had in Thailand it included salad and lightly battered tea leaves, chicken breast, curry, soup and rice. Every dish was a winner. The host was very knowledgeable and funny. Special mention must go to the tea expert who roasts the leaves. She does this purely on instinct. A great day enjoyed by all.
